Getting Started with GalleryID

Learn the basics of navigating and using the platform.

GalleryID. What is it?

GalleryID Cloud is the hosted archive for sports photographers and athletic departments. Create a gallery, point it at a roster, and MatchID identifies athletes by combining facial matching with team and event context. Names are written to the file when you download.

  • •Automatic athlete identification via MatchID multi-layer AI (facial matching + team and event identification)
  • •Organize photos into galleries and folders
  • •Search photos by athlete name across all events
  • •Share galleries with teams, parents, and media
  • •Export to FTP or download with the names written to the file

How MatchID Works

GalleryID MatchID is how athletes get identified in your photos. It works by comparing faces in uploaded photos against reference headshots in your roster. Without a roster scoped to your gallery, facial matching won't run and person search returns no results by default. Here's the workflow:

  1. 1

    Add athletes with reference headshots

Go to People and add athletes to your roster. Each athlete needs at least one clear headshot, this is the reference photo that MatchID uses to recognize them. The more athletes you index, the more names you'll get back on your uploads.
  2. 2

Scope the roster to your gallery

Open your gallery and go to Gallery Settings → Roster. Select the roster(s) you want to match against. This tells GalleryID which athletes to look for in photos uploaded to this gallery. A gallery with no roster scoped will skip facial matching entirely.
  3. 3

    Upload your photos

Drag and drop your game or event photos into the gallery. As photos upload, MatchID runs automatically, comparing detected faces against the headshots in your scoped roster. Jersey number OCR runs in parallel as a second matching method.
  4. 4

    Review matches in Gallery Browser

Open the gallery in Browser to see results. Matched athletes show their name on each photo. Low-confidence matches are flagged for your review, approve or reject with a click. Your review is what makes the final tag accurate.
Roster first, then upload. If you upload photos before scoping a roster, the photos won't be processed through MatchID. You can re-run matching later, but setting up the roster first saves time.
MatchID results are suggestions, not confirmed identifications. Always review matches before publishing, sharing, or downloading tagged photos.
